Coffee Pot Restaurant: 2050 W Hwy 89A, Sedona, AZ 86336
* We love to ride bikes to food and drink. We try to fairly review things like: bike parking, how welcoming they are to sweaty people with helmet hair, food/drink and price. We are not professional food critics!
Coffee Pot is a beautiful restaurant located in the town of Sedona. Coffee Pot Rock can be seen behind the restaurant which makes it super pretty. Unfortunately you cannot see the amazing view when sitting inside, since there are no windows. The restaurant seems to be very popular with tourists. There was a 30 minute wait to be seated. This seems to be a regular thing especially on weekends. There is a gift shop you can hang out in and browse while you wait… if you are into that type of thing. I rode my bike through town while others in our party waited. Who knew having friends that don’t ride would be such a good thing!
I felt comfortable in my biking clothes and helmet hair, and I didn’t get looks from any of the staff, but most patrons were dressed as if they had already taken a shower that day.
Ok. So… Coffee Pot Restaurant has a “bike rack”. At least I think that’s what this is. If this was indeed the designated spot for bikes, I was not very impressed. The “rack” is in somewhat of a highly visible spot, but only if the people that are waiting for a table are looking toward the direction of the side parking lot, where the “rack” is located… I guess you also get the traffic from people that are parking their cars in that lot. Although… it would also be very easy for someone to take every bike, “rack” and all, and throw them in a truck. So basically, I was happy I brought my cheap-ass bike… problem is, I love my cheap-ass bike. Also, this type of “rack” brings out the asshole in me. But first… IS THIS A BIKE RACK??? I’m still not sure that is it’s purpose! Now that I’m looking at the picture, I should have locked up to the railing by the steps… although, I think that’s illegal….
Ok time to talk about the food. Huevos Rancheros: I hate to say it but, it just wasn’t very good. The dish looked amazing, as you can see, but it was pretty bland. Potatoes were unseasoned and the salsa was average; almost like what you find in a common grocery store. Not impressed. Having to wait to get so-so food was a total bummer. Coffee: coffee was ok, it delivered the caffeine I much needed. The best part is that they leave the whole pot on the table, so you can drink up as you wish without having to get someone’s attention. This was great because the place was packed. (I forgot to fill up my pretty mug for the picture).
Huevos Rancheros and Coffee: $11.45 (not including tax and tip)
The price was pretty reasonable. I would have been ecstatic had I liked the food more.
Overall we say Coffee Pot Restaurant is… not bicycle friendly.
- Waiting 30 minutes to be seated wastes time you could be riding.
- The bathrooms are pretty cramped with only one sink right in front of the stalls, considering that the place was packed, the bathroom was not a good place to freshen up.
- The bike rack was very disappointing… still not sure if it’s even a rack.
