Spinelli’s Pizzeria Tempe: 420 S Mill Suite 101, Tempe, AZ
* I am not a food critic! I am just a hungry biker! I love to ride my bike to food and drink. I try to fairly review things like: bike parking, how welcoming they are to sweaty people with helmet hair, food/drink and price.
If you have been following this blog for a while, you know that we are big fans of Spinelli’s. They are very bicycle friendly and are one of our 1000 Awesome Things About Biking in Arizona. However, in all the time we have been going there, we’ve never had their famous Chicken and Waffle Pizza or their Fried Oreos, two of the heavy-hitters in the menu. So I thought I’d take a ride over there and give them a real try!
Spinelli’s is on Mill, by the Starbucks on 5th. This location has been several other things in the past, but I think Spinelli’s is here to stay.
These people love bikes and the people who ride them! Feel free to roll in in whatever state you are in. Kit, sweaty, helmet head, clicking shoes… all are entirely welcome!
Spinelli’s welcomes you to park your bike inside! The restaurant is usually packed with bikes!
Food time! Chicken and Waffles Pizza: I have been dying to try this pizza. Every time someone orders it it smells amazing! Hot syrupie goodness! It was finally my turn! What did I think? I thought it was good! The chicken was really good and I ate that whole slice (did you notice the size of that thing! That’s my iPhone 5 next to it for scale!). But I am definitely a cheese pizza type of person. Nothing against the Chicken and Waffles… it’s just that cheese can’t be beat! Fried Oreos: Oh my soooo good! After the behemoth pizza slice I was glad I got the 1/2 order with two cookies instead of four. These cookies are heavy! But so good! Just watch out… they stay hot for a really long time! I was happy to have my cold PBR Tall Boy: to sip on while I waited for those suckers to cool down.
Chicken and Waffles Slice, Fried Oreos (1/2 order), PBR Tall Boy: $11 (not including tip and tax and with drink specials)
Really good price!
Overall we say Spinelli’s is… bicycle friendly!
- Very casual vibe.
- Cyclists more than welcome, genuinely invited!
- Large enough bathrooms to freshen up a little. Heads up! Bathrooms are unisex. However most ladies use the bathroom to the left, gentleman use the one that says “+18 years” and walls are plastered with porno pics.
- You can park your bike inside! Yei!
