Neariah’s Mexican Restaurant: 885 W Highway 92 Bisbee, AZ 85603
* I am not a food critic! I am just a hungry biker! I love to ride my bike to food and drink. I try to fairly review things like: bike parking, how welcoming they are to sweaty people with helmet hair, food/drink and price.
Neariah’s is located in Bisbee; by the Safeway on Naco Highway (this is the highway you take to bike to Naco, Mexico and it is beautiful). Go a little too fast and you may miss it. This restaurant was recommended to us by one of the locals we met at Old Bisbee Brewing Company. The vibe in this place is very casual. I looked like crap: full sweat, red face and helmet hair. No problem. There were some patrons that looked like they were taking a break from a hard’s day work, and others that were dressed to the nines… like a family that I’m pretty sure was celebrating a First Communion or something. Everyone was happy and enjoying their meal.
The restaurant is teeeny tiiiiiny. As soon as you walk in you feel like you are in someone’s house and you are sitting down to a home-cooked meal.
Surprise! This place didn’t have a bike rack either! What is it with Bisbee and bike racks??? They did have a sturdy chain we felt comfortable locking our bikes to.
The food was good. The Chips and Salsa were nothing to write home about… but they were chips and salsa… never a bad thing. Tacos Dorados (3 Tacos) Beef were really good. The tacos were hard-shelled and fried. The beef was crispy and well-seasoned. The tacos came with a side of Yellow Rice and Refried Beans which were soooo good in that cheap Mexican way. The only down-side to Neariah’s is that they don’t have a liquor license, so they don’t sell beer or margaritas.
Chips and Salsa (free) Tacos Dorados (3 Tacos) Beef: $6.99 (not including taxes and tip)
Overall we say Neariah’s is… bicycle friendly!
- No bike racks, but suitable spot to bike locks to.
- Private bathroom with sink to freshen up.
- Casual vibe.
- Basically on Naco Highway which you ought to be biking!
