Fractured Prune Doughnuts: 4910 W Ray Road Suite 1 Chandler, AZ 85226

* I am not a food critic! I am just a hungry biker! I love to ride my bike to food and drink. I try to fairly review things like: bike parking, how welcoming they are to sweaty people with helmet hair, food/drink and price.

Fractured Prune is a doughnut shop in Chandler. I have heard so much about this place and its unique ways I couldn’t wait to try it! I did not know this is a franchise with locations all over the United States until just now. I personally have a thing about chains, but since we went to it and ate the shit out of some doughnuts, it seems a complete waste to not review the place now. It had a casual vibe, friendly service and good doughnuts.

Fractured Prune does not have a bike rack. However there is one in the strip mall area where they are located. I went to lock my bike to it and… surprise! The rack is not bolted to the ground. Genius! Turns out the doughnut shop has a patio with a fence around it. It is definitely way too hot to sit outside but I was able to lock my bike to the fence. I had to walk through the restaurant to get to the patio. I could have walked around the restaurant to get to the patio but then I would have to lock up to the fence closest to Ray Rd and the entrance to the strip mall… that didn’t sit well with me.

So the way this place works is pretty amazing. They make the doughnuts to order, so your doughnut is hot and crispy with a moist center. I said moist. They have all sorts of fun toppings for your doughnuts… it’s pretty badass. I went with a friend and we ordered a couple to try out different flavors. These doughnuts are de.ca.dent and by decadent I mean heavy and landed like a bomb. We didn’t come close to finishing all four between the two of us. I don’t know… it was just too much… too sweet, too fried, too dense… To be honest thinking about it kind of gives me a stomach-ache. The Bacon Bomb (maple glaze, cinnamon sugar and bacon) was my least favorite and that was surprising because I love bacon. It was too savory… I’ve had bacon desserts before but they are still sweet overall. This one not so much. The Cookies and Cream (vanilla glaze and cookie crumbs) was really good and was my second favorite. Strawberry Shortcake (strawberry glaze, graham crackers and powdered sugar) was very good too. My favorite one however, surprisingly because it didn’t sound good to me at all when we ordered, was Lemonade (lemon glaze and granulated sugar) the tartness and sweetness were amazing! Regardless of the flavor the best part was the actual doughnut.  Next time I go I will get a plain one. Nothing on it just doughnut please! To be fair I have to note that most people loooove these doughnuts and all I have heard are great things about them… so go figure. Don’t take my word for it, check them out for yourselves. I will stick with BoSa.

Bacon Bomb, Cookies and Cream, Strawberry Shortcake and Lemonade: $7.56 (not including taxes and tip)

Of course you could always just buy one for $1.89. I would highly recommend that option.

Overall we say Fractured Prune Doughnuts is… not bicycle friendly.

  • They don’t have a bike rack. We normally let a fence slide, but this fence was in a spot where you have to walk in though the small location with your bike… not optimal. Or, to avoid walking in with the bike, lock it by the fence very close to Ray and the entrance which just raised all kinds of red flags. Then again, if you are really hard up for a doughnut there is something. I don’t know if that’s enough to make this location bicycle friendly… considering how easy it would be to at the very least bolt the rack nearby, we say no.
