Congrats Stacy J!

Bern Unlimited sent us their newest ladies urban helmet, the Bern Melrose Helmet to try out and review. They also sent us a second one to give away to one of our readers! I could not be more stoked!

The Berns have been looking good to me for a long time. For the way that I ride: in street clothes, on a cargo bike at a very leisurely pace; my current racing helmet feels a little silly.

I never made the switch for two reasons: the Bern looked really hot and really heavy. When it comes down to it, I’m wearing a helmet for safety, not for looks. The only time I don’t wear a helmet is during the summer… when putting something on my head feels like dying. The last thing I need is a hotter and heavier helmet than the one I currently own. The Melrose has addressed both of these issues making it a comfortable and cool helmet that looks good while commuting around town on my Big Dummy.

The best improvements on this new model are the SIXTEEN vents! This helmet is actually cool! I cannot stress this enough… your head will come in contact with some much needed air. Plus, the Melrose uses Bern’s Zipmold Technology for a low profile fit that weighs less than other in-mold helmets.

The inside of the helmet is lined with a lightly padded surface that is adjustable with a dial. The lining gives it a customized and comfy fit. The liner has a neat visor attached to it which can shade your eyes from the sun when you need it, and can be flipped back when you don’t.

So now that Bern has addressed these issues, I can finally do what I have been wanting to do for a long time: change my current helmet for a Bern. I’m protecting my amazing brain and looking pretty good while doing so.

The Bern Melrose is available for purchase at amazon.com. Rather win one? Read on!
